Volunteer
Donating your time is a vital contribution to our organization. We have volunteer opportunities available on our Information & Referral line, and in a wide variety of special projects, including fundraising, general office support and event planning.
How do I get started?
You can download the complete Volunteer Information Form and return it via fax at: 860-524-0705 or mail to: CWEALF, 75 Charter Oak Ave, Suite 1-300, Hartford, CT 06106.
Who are our Volunteers?
- People who want to actively participate in supporting women, girls & their families
- People who are non-judgmental and accepting
- People who respect a diverse work environment
How much time would I be expected to volunteer?
That depends on you, your availability and your interests. We recognize that there may be some weeks or months you are able to help more than others. Whatever your schedule, your help at CWEALF is valued.
How will I know what to do as a volunteer?
The volunteer coordinator will introduce you to CWEALF and its staff and services before you begin your volunteer work. If specialized training is needed before you begin, our staff will ensure that you receive the necessary support.
What type of work do volunteers do?
There are many ways you can help CWEALF make a difference! Information & Referral (I&R) is one of our greatest areas of need. I&R volunteers provide legal information and support to people throughout Connecticut. Volunteers answer calls to the I&R line and respond to questions we receive through our web site. I&R volunteers receive in-depth training and are asked to commit to at least six months of service.
In addition to I&R, CWEALF needs volunteers to help with a number of other activities. For a list of our current volunteer opportunities, visit the announcements section of CWEALF's website.
CWEALF volunteers should have strong communication, writing and computer skills. Volunteers are expected to demonstrate general work-related skills such as punctuality, responsibility, and thoroughness.
